Inspections for the Produce Safety Rule were being rolled out in full force across the southeast when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, bringing non-critical regulatory inspections to a halt. Because of the pause across the world, there has been a lack of information traveling up and down the “rumor grape vine” from operations with early inspection dates to help prepare the rest of the industry. Instead of relying on rumors, engage with a state and a federal inspector to get the insight on “their” strategies, approaches, what to expect before, during and after they visit the farm.
