FSMA 204 Traceability Workshop – $125
Traceability expert and co-writer of the FDA’s Food Traceability Rule Andy Kenndy will be hosting a traceability workshop. We’re inviting industry members whose organization will be subject to compliance with the FDA’s Food Traceability Rule to get some hands-on support with starting your traceability plan. Bring your traceability records (case & pallet labels, sample harvesting/cooling records, packing records, transformation records, shipping, and receiving records) that will help you build your sortable spreadsheet. Attending this traceability workshop will help you have a clear understanding of FSMA Rule 204 and a path for compliance.
PSA Grower Training – $60
This special session is for fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety. The PSA Grower Training Course is one way to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in 112.22(c) that requires ‘At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.’
Participants will only be eligible for the PSA/AFDO Certificate of Course Completion if they are present for all modules of the course.
Bridging the GAPS – $20
Fruit and vegetable growers are continually assessing their operations to determine where they can limit risk and increase productivity. As a result, many have expressed interest in learning more about how on-farm preharvest water treatment systems work and how they may fit within their current setup. Come for a day-long course with extension specialists across the Southeast to learn about different approaches to treating water on-farm; how to implement these systems to meet the requirements of the Produce Safety Rule; and how to verify that the system is operating as intended.
Better Yields Through Conservation of Bees and Beneficial Insects – $15
This special session will focus on conservation approaches such as wildflower habitats and managing natural areas for the purpose of improving pollination and pest control services. The organizers will share results from recent work in blueberry farms in Georgia, and hands-on identification of beneficial insects. The NRCS will also provide information for growers on financial incentives and programs available to support conservation practices. To close the session, we invite growers doing conservation to discuss conservation efforts and the challenges of implementation.
Pest Management Strategic Plan for Strawberries in FL, GA, and SC
A workshop to discuss the Pest Management Strategic Plan (PMSP) draft and set up practice and research priorities for strawberry production in FL, GA, and SC. This is open to researchers, strawberry farmers, and general conference attendees.
Diamond Back Moth Pest Management Strategic Plan
Growers and crop consultants – we need your input to improve the management of the diamondback moth. This will be a listening session where we need you to provide crucial insight. University researchers are seeking input on insecticide efficacy, resistance problems, and grower priorities for research, including mating disruption, host plant resistance, biopesticides, and biocontrol. Breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided.
